Marketing can be a money pit.

Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google take this fact straight to the bank.

Without the right tools, you have to work harder and spend more money. It’s a struggle and it shouldn’t be.

Maybe you’re still figuring out how to present yourself for sales.

And, throwing a lot of mess and money at the wall trying to get something to stick.

Ugh! Save yourself the trial-and-error.

These are the 3 things to get right before building your dream business.

1. Strategy:

Ads, emails, and social posts are not strategies. Those are tactics. Without a strategy, none of those tactics will create lift.

So, what’s a strategy?

Strategy aligns directly with your objectives, defines your marketing approach, and is focused on the future.

  1. How will we grow our market share with the funds we have available?
  2. What milestones will we need to achieve in 6 months? 1 year? 3 years?

Once you have the strategy defined, select tactics that tie back to the strategy. Then, you’re aligned.

2. Team:

When a person works in-house on your marketing, they can draw on the knowledge and ideas from your entire team. They are focused only on your brand and they have a deep understanding of the brand’s positioning.

But, here’s what has to happen. The internal marketing person or team needs training. They need to spend time updating their knowledge and skills to be most effective.

3. Tracking:

What’s the ROI of Marketing is everyone’s holy grail and it’s easy to see why.
Anyone responsible for spending money to generate revenue should have a simple way to know if their activity is generating business.
